composing messages

creating a new message

To start a new message, click "Compose Messages" on the left navigation bar.

You can address a message in one of three ways:

 •  Type an email address directly into the To, Cc, and/or Bcc field(s).
 •  Select an address from your Address Book by clicking the To, Cc, or Bcc checkbox next to that name.

Note: You may send an email message to a maximum of 50 addresses. This includes all addresses in the To, Cc and Bcc fields.

 •  Within "Compose Messages", click an address found in the "Quick Address Book" box.

You can save a draft of your new message if you wish to complete and send it at a later time.

To save your message as a draft, simply click the "Save Draft" button on the Compose screen. The message is saved to a folder called "Drafts" by default.

To retrieve a saved draft message:

1. Click "Drafts" under the Folder list on the left navigation bar
2. Click the subject of the Draft you want to view. The Draft will appear in the message read area.
3. Finish composing your message and hit "Send".

addressing

From the Compose Mail screen, you can address a message in one of three ways:

 •  Type an email address directly into the To, Cc, and/or Bcc field(s).
 •  Open your Address Book, by clicking on the Complete Address Book link in the Quick Address Book box or by clicking on the To, Cc, or Bcc buttons. Select an address by clicking the To, Cc, or Bcc check box next to that name, then click "Select"
 •  Click a name in your Quick Address Book.

Note: At least one valid email address must be present in the To field in order to send a message. You may send an email message to a maximum of 50 addresses. This includes all addresses in the TO field.

nicknames

Nicknames are a great way to save time when sending emails to your contacts - rather than typing a contact's full email address into the "To", "Cc" or "Bcc" field, just enter a contact's nickname. To properly set up this feature, go into your address book, open a contact's profile information, and enter his or her nickname into the "Nickname" field.

Treat nicknames the same way you would email addresses. When entering more than one nickname - or a nickname and one or more full email addresses - separate them with commas.

saving drafts

You can save a draft of your new message if you wish to complete and send it at a later time. To save your message as a draft, simply click the "Save Draft" button on the Compose screen. The message is saved to a folder called "Drafts" by default.

To retrieve a saved draft message:

 •  Click "Drafts" under the Folders list on the left navigation bar.
 •  Click the subject of the Draft you want to view. The Draft will appear in the Compose Mail area.
 •  Finish composing your message and hit "Send".

spell check

To check the text of your message for proper spelling, just click the "Spell Check" button on the Compose Mail screen.

For IE Users:

If the My Way Spell Check Dictionary does not recognize a word in your email message, that word will be highlighted for you on the Spell Check page. You can correct the spelling yourself by simply typing over what is displayed in the "Change To" box, or choose one of the suggestions provided for you in the "Suggestions" box.

Once you've made your correction, click the "Change" button at the bottom of the page to save your change and move on to the next word. (If the highlighted word in question is spelled the way you intended it, just click the "Ignore" button.)

After you have made all corrections to your message, a "Spell check complete" pop-up will appear. Click "OK".

NOTE: If at any time you wish to abandon all your changes and return to your Compose Mail screen, just click the "Cancel" button. If you want to return to your Compose Mail screen before completing the Spell Check, but wish to save the changes you've already made, click the "Done" button.

For Netscape users:

If the My Way Spell Check Dictionary does not recognize a word in your email message, the word will appear in a box with a question mark next to it. Just click on the question mark to see a list of possible replacements.

In the Spell Check suggestion window that pops up, you have three options:

 •  You can make a manual correction by typing over what is shown in the top box, then click the "Change" button.
 •  You can select an alternative spelling from the pull-down suggestion list in the center of the pop-up. Just highlight the word you want and hit the "Change" button.
 •  If you don't wish to make any changes, just click on the "Leave unchanged" link or close the pop-up window.

Your changes, if any, will immediately be shown on the main spell check page. When you are finished spell-checking your message, click the "Done" button to return to the "Compose Mail" screen with your spelling corrections in place. Click "Cancel" to abandon any changes you have already made and to return to your "Compose Mail" screen.
